How long do lash extensions last?

Depending on the type of set chosen, individual lash extensions can last up to 3-4 weeks before a Relash is needed! That means a whole month without having to apply mascara!

Why are individual lashes better than clusters or strip lashes?

Individual Clusters, Tabs, Strips ….These lashes are all applied with a generous amount of adhesive on your lash line/skin. It’s recommended this service done as a one day service for an event, party, or costume. Leaving clusters or strips on longer than 1 day will block your follicle from breathing. Over time, this can cause damage to your natural lashes.

Individual Eyelash Extensions are individually applied with a minimal amount of adhesive one by one. Individual Eyelash Extensions are never attached to the skin therefore giving a seamless look. These lashes are attached 1-2mm off of the clients skin for optimal safety, and a lightweight feel.

Do you offer different types of lashes?

Yes! With individual lashes the options are endless! From Classic or Volume, to Color, your lash artist will customize your set for you. Lashes chosen are dependent on the health of the clients natural lashes, as well as the clients specific wants or needs. Partial sets will last approximately 2 weeks prior to needing a fill, compared to a Full Set which will last approximately 3-4 weeks prior to needing a fill. Prices will vary dependent of look, color, retention.

Can I wear mascara with lash extensions?

Who needs mascara when you have lashes!

At The Beautiful Life XO we highly recommend you avoid mascara on your upper lashes. Using mascara on your extensions can shorten the lifespan of the extensions. It can also lead to product build up around the eyes.

How long does it take to apply eyelash extensions?

Full Set: 2-2.5 hrs Relash Full Set: 1-1.5hrs

Partial Set: 1-1.5hrs Relash Partial Set: 45min

  • Please remember your lash artist books your appointment time accordingly. If you are running late to your appointment your lash artist will apply extensions for the remaining time available.

Why do I need to come for Relashes?

Your natural lashes shed approximately every 28-35 days. This means when your natural lashes shed, the extension will shed with it one by one. Depending on the set and look desired, your lash artist will apply anywhere from 50-350 lashes per eye during your initial set.

When clients come in for a fill, they should have approximately 40%-50% of the initial extensions remaining.

What happens if I go past my required Relash timeframe?

Partial Set Fills are required every 2 weeks.

Full Set Fills are required every 3-4 weeks.

Going past the required Relash timeframe means that the client will have lost more extensions than the average Relash appointment. It also means that the extensions that are still on are going to be very outgrown and will need to be removed. This process will take longer than the average Relash appointment as well as require more product use, therefore your lash artist may not be able to get you as full as your initial set. Appointments booked past these time frames will require a new initial set of lashes and do not qualify for a Relash.

If necessary with major lash loss your lash artist may require that you book 2 Relash appointments within up to 1 week of each other to maintain that look.

Can I get lash extensions just for an event?

Yes! Lashes are great for events and holiday parties. It is a great way to enhance your look.

Can I stop wearing lashes at any time?

Yes, as your natural lashes shed, the extensions will shed with them one by one.

But…..we’re not making any promises that you wont fall in love and want to keep them on!

  • If you would like your extensions removed before they fall out, please book a removal service. (We charge for this service)

  • Do not try to remove your extensions prematurely as it could harm your natural lashes.

Is this a good service for brides?

Of course!! Brides love our lashes because they don't have to worry about mascara or heavy strip lashes on such a big day. Enjoy the lashes for your wedding, as well your honeymoon for weeks to follow.

Please notify your makeup artist that you are wearing lash extensions and all products must be oil free around the entire eye area. Products with oil will break down the extensions and cause them to fall out prematurely.

Many brides try out wearing lash extensions prior to their wedding service. This allows them to get used to wearing extensions as well as customize the look to their liking.

*It is recommended that brides book an initial set of lashes and then a follow up relash right before their wedding so that the bride can make any changes desired before the big day!

Is there anything I should know prior to my appointment?

  • Avoid caffeine for at least 2-3 hours before your visit. Caffeine is a stimulant therefore it can cause your lashes to flutter, making it hard to attach an extension to, as well as uncomfortable for the client to lay still for a long period of time.

  • We recommend showering prior to your visit because you cannot get the lashes wet for 24hrs.

  • We ask that clients do not come to services with eye makeup on (especially waterproof). Excessive removal of eye makeup will cut into clients service time.

  • Your eyes will be closed for the entire service. Please use the restroom before coming into your appointment as it if very difficult and not recommended to stop service once we have begun, and can impact the procedure.

  • We ask that clients do not talk on their phone or try to open their eyes to text during services. The services we provide are very upclose and we are using tweezers a few mm away from the eyes at all times.

  • If clients need to readjust please let us know so that we can safely move instruments away from the eyes.

  • Clients must be able to lay with their heads flat on the pillow for the entire length of service. We recommend coming with hair down, tied to the side, or in a low loose bun or ponytail.

Can I sleep during my service?

Yes! Once your lashes are cleansed and your eye pads are on, your naptime begins!

Relax and enjoy the time to yourself.

You may also listen to a podcast, or your own music as long as the headphones used are small earbuds.

My eyes are sensitive, what do you recommend?

Most clients have little to no problems with lash extensions, but for those who are highly sensitive we recommend they

  • Take out their contacts prior to getting lash extensions (don't worry you can put them back in right when the service finishes). Please provide your own case.

  • Avoid steam/water for the first 24hrs.

  • Do not rub your eyes

Clients with allergies to Latex and adhesive may experience sensitivity to individual lash extensions. A patch test is recommended at least 48hrs prior to service but does not guarantee client will not experience an allergic reaction or sensitivity to patch test or services after.

Similar to other beauty services + products clients can experience an allergic reaction at any time to any service or product. Allergic reactions can develop or be in response to a combination of elements such as lifestyle, health, medication, product usage, stress, + more.

Should I clean my lashes?

YES!! Far too often clients are scared to touch their eyes once they receive lash extensions.

Even if you do not wear eye makeup your body produces natural oils, so not cleaning your lash line could cause buildup around the your eyes. Overtime this buildup could cause your extensions to fall out faster, or irritate your eyes.

Clean lashes are healthy lashes!

How do I take care of my lashes?

Lashes are simple and easy! Not only are they low maintenance, but they save you time getting ready in the morning.

  • Throw away all eyelash curlers and mascara… YOU WON’T NEED THEM!

  • Avoid water for the first 24 hrs. (including steam from the shower).

  • Avoid products around the eyes that contain oil, including eye makeup remover. (Don’t worry we sell a fabulous foam cleanser in the salon).

  • Avoid excessive steam or heat on the lashes. Lashes are a synthetic blend and are sensitive to grills, ovens, saunas, + more.

  • Sleep on your back as much as possible.

  • Cleanse your eyes with the recommended cleanser.

  • LOVE & ENJOY your new lashes!

Do lash extensions damage your natural lashes?

Lash extensions as a service should not damage your natural lashes.

A minimal amount of medical grade adhesive is used to apply a lightweight extension to your natural lash.

Each extension is customized by length, thickness, and curl, taking into consideration the health of each individual natural lash.

Education, Experience, and Quality Products ensure a safe and relaxing service.

Are Classic Lashes lighter in weight compared to Volume Lashes?

NO, Volume lashes are actually finer and lighter in weight compared to an average classic lash.

Volume lashes are applied individually using the same isolation and application technique as Classic lashes. Volume lashes are extremely lightweight which allows your lash artist to apply more than one extension at a time.
